Adelaide Ortega’s Triumph

Lynn Dubinsky, Educational Program Manager at the Braille Institute and Adelaide Ortega

Lynn Dubinsky, Educational Program Manager at the Braille Institute and Adelaide Ortega.  Lynn describes the wide variety of educational opportunities offered at the Braille Institute.

Frank and I were so inspired by Adelaide Ortega’s story of triumph.  Adelaide lost her vision more than twenty years ago and understandably went through a period of deep despair.  The Braille Institute helped her to learn that she could still have a full life.  Today, she teaches ceramics, bowls and golfs!  She has even had the honor of being invited to Scotland to take part in The World Cup West Golf  Tournament, put on by the Scotish Disability Golf Parnership.   The tournament takes place July 21st – July 25th and Adelaide needs help funding the trip.  If you’re inspired by her story and would like to help her get to Scotland, a fund has been set up for that purpose at Montecito Bank and Trust.

Checks can be made out to Adelaide Ortega and sent to:

Montecito Bank and Trust, 1000 State Street
Santa Barbara, CA 93101
